The truth is, you don’t break a bad habit; you replace it with a good one.”
Denis Waitley
We often think about breaking bad habits, but did you know it takes 21 days to create a new one? This is where you have to choose your hard. Would you rather focus on getting rid of a bad habit OR focus on creating a good one? Once you’ve established that good habit, you continue to do it even longer.
If we keep with the positive mindset shift, it seems MUCH easier to bring something GOOD into our lives than to eliminate something bad. So, when we see it as starting the new and the good, the bad automatically gets overshadowed or replaced.
What do I mean by that? Well, maybe you drink a lot of soda or sugary drinks and you want to stop that or at least cut down. Instead of trying to eliminate soda altogether, try drinking more water. Your body will start to make the healthier choice when you’re thirsty. The same can be said for movement, sleep, complaining, or anything else you would like to change in order to become the best version of you.
Now, I am a visual person. I am also allll about accountability for myself. So, I realized that I needed to actually SEE my progress as I worked towards creating good habits for my body, mind, and soul. I decided to set a monthly challenge of three goals each month. This month I am working on drinking 64+ ounces of water a day, channeling my inner yogi (who had become lost) by doing yoga at least 2x a week, and calming my mind with daily meditation. I created a habit tracker, and I find that coloring in those boxes is something I look forward to each day.
I have created a generic version of my habit tracker to share with you, my reader friends! If you would like to join me on this journey with your own monthly challenge, that would be fabulous. You can download the tracker here:
Sending you all the good vibes, friends!
