Hi friends! Thank YOU for coming back to join me for your Weekly Dose of TLC!
As always, I will be focusing on 3 good things for the week in this single post – everything Teacher-Life-Coach is all about:
T: The teacher in me…
L: Life hacks, good finds, and general fun
C: Motivation and inspiration
So, with that, Happy 2025 (I am surprisingly quick these days with writing the correct date)! Let’s get started with this week’s Dose of TLC!
T – The Write Stuff
The teacher in me loves journaling. I would often start my school day with a ‘soft start’ and have my students write in journals after unpacking in the morning. I, myself, journal whenever I can, and I am always drawn to that section of bookstores or stationery stores. As a matter of fact, I am on a mission to find the perfect journal for the new year.
With that, I thought it might be fun to start a journaling mini-series here, one where you can take a moment to think about something fun each day. If you have ever thought about journaling but don’t know where to start, this is for you. If you are a master ‘journaler’ (I know that word probably isn’t used often) and are looking to think outside the box a little, this is for you. If you are a ‘not a newbie, not a master’ journal keeper, this is for you.
Each week during the month of January, I will share a list of prompts here – think about them, write them in your journal, write them in your phone (whatever works best for you). You can even use my free download (below) for jotting down ideas.

L – Plan on It
I know I have probably admitted this once or twice before, but one of my favorite things is making a list and checking items off as I complete them. It honestly makes me feel so accomplished, no matter how small the task may be.
With my new position at work, my responsibilities are varied and I have quite a few proverbial tabs open at any given moment. The best way for me to stay organized is to write things down in order to keep track of all I must do. I usually take a few minutes on Friday afternoons to jot down the things I know for the coming week – this keeps me from having to take these thoughts into the weekend – and then each day I add to the list as needed.
So, if you’re anything like me, you might enjoy a place to keep all your thoughts and ideas for the coming week. Below is a link for a copy of the weekly to-do list I use (winter-themed at the moment). Print it out and place it on a clipboard, in your binder, or even on your desk/refrigerator.

C – No Resolutions Here
Let’s finish out our weekly TLC with a quick note, not talking about resolutions.
Did you know that 43% of adults give up on their New Year’s resolutions by the end of January? I don’t know where I found that statistic at one time, but I have always kept it written in the notes on my phone as a reminder to shift my mindset.
I started thinking about why this statistic exists, and I wonder if maybe we are looking at things the wrong way. Maybe the resolutions we set are too hard, too much, and too fast – and when we don’t see the progress or change or result we want as quickly as we want it, we tend to lose hope and give up. I don’t know if that’s the truth, but just my thoughts on things.
So, what if we didn’t make resolutions? What if we, instead, committed ourselves to setting small [wellness, work, personal] goals that we can achieve in steps? Or what if we committed to simply creating a life we love – embracing the small moments, fostering connections, feeling good, focusing on being ourselves instead of changing ourselves?

Now, those are some things I am not giving up on – and maybe that’s where we should start with this new year we have been given.
Sending you ALL good things in 2025 and beyond…
~S~
