Hi friends! Thank you for coming back to join me for your Weekly Dose of TLC!
As always, I will be focusing on 3 good things for the week in this single post – everything Teacher-Life-Coach is all about:
T: The teacher in me…
L: Life hacks, good finds, and general fun
C: Motivation and inspiration
So with that, let’s get started!
T – Hey, Goal-Getter!
The teacher in me has always worked with setting goals, whether for myself or for my students.
Every September, we complete a PDP (Professional Development Plan), which includes goals we set for ourselves for the school year. When looking at those goals, I always revert back to the S.M.A.R.T. goal acronym (I would use this acronym when helping my students set learning goals as well.):
Specific
Measurable
Achievable
Realistic
Time-bound
SMART goals work because we can measure our success. They work because they are realistic, and they work because we set time frames in which want to achieve them.
So, as we look towards entering November soon, think about a SMART goal you want to set for yourself in the new month. Is it related to finances? Do you want to achieve more with regards to professional development or even personal development? Is your SMART goal focused on health and fitness or hobbies you have? Whatever you decide, just know that it’s perfect for you.
To help you with this, try out my goal-setting page. Print yours here:
L – Come and Eat, Y’all
Full disclosure: I am NO gourmet chef, but I am not afraid to try new recipes and what I cook I can cook pretty well…
…and I make a mean chili.
I never was a fan of chili growing up, but now it’s the epitome of easy comfort food. Plus, I tend to make enough to feed a football team so I can always make it work for a later-in-the-week leftover meal. I love to serve it with cornbread or even over a baked potato, and of course I top it with yummy sour cream and some shredded cheese.
Recipe below (if you are interested).

Chili Recipe
1lb ground beef (optional)
2 cans chili beans (in sauce)
1 can butter beans
1 can light red kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
1 large can diced tomatoes
1 large can tomato sauce
Peppers and onions
Ditalini pasta (uncooked)
Saute meat in skillet until it is no longer pink. Add all the ingredients to slow cooker (except for the pasta).
Cook on low for 6 hours. About 30 minutes before eating, add the pasta (you choose the amount) and continue cooking until it is soft.
C – Weekly Gratitude
Let’s finish out our weekly TLC with some [more] gratitude.
I love ALL things gratitude – inspiration, quotes, practicing – and I will probably post, write, and talk about it a lot. But, gratitude is just one of those things that makes our lives better every day.
Back in the summer, I found a cute box of gratitude quote cards (with display) in my favorite bookstore. On a whim, I bought it for my desk, but it actually ended up on my kitchen counter and I am not upset about that because it’s the perfect reminder for me each morning.
I change the quote card out every week, and I am loving on this one BIG time:
“Appreciate everyone and everything in your life.” – Wayne Dyer

I know I have said it before, but I will say it many times – when we focus on the good in our lives, the good in our lives continues to grow. Appreciating everyone and everything we have allows us to realize how full our lives truly are.
Sending you good vibes (with gratitude)!
