Weekly Dose of TLC

Your Weekly Dose of TLC (8/5/2024)

Hi friends! Welcome to your first Weekly Dose of TLC! In an effort to streamline my posts and not overwhelm everyone, I will be focusing on 3 good things each week in a single post – your TLC for the week.

T: Teaching stuff
L: Life hacks, good finds, and general fun
C: Motivation and inspiration

So with that, let’s get started!

T – My teacher friends…we all know August means (for us) that summer is winding down and we are headed back to school. I mean, let’s face it – it feels like those big name stores have had their school supplies out since the beginning of June. And, as the old saying goes: if we can’t beat them, we join them…and if that means starting to think about organization, then organize we must! So, let’s talk lunch.

I love a good lunch. Who’s with me on that? Packing my lunch makes me feel like a true adult and so put together. That might sound crazy, but I will take some wins where I can get them. Packing my lunch also keeps me on the right track with my nutrition AND it saves me some money because ordering out can get expensive.

Check out some of my favorite pieces that will elevate our brought-from-home goodies (I have included Amazon affiliate links under the photo for easy reference/browsing). I think it all starts with a good bag. Everything else is an added plus.

  1. Fit & Fresh Summerton Lunch Bag – I have this particular style and I LOVE how it looks/carries like a handbag!  https://amzn.to/44tJH3H
  2. FIT Strong & Healthy 2 & 3 Compartment Glass Containers (4 pack) – I prefer glass containers for my cold food items.  https://amzn.to/43xIffp
  3. Ello Beacon Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler – This is a GREAT alternative to other brands (which I also have), and I don’t think they are as heavy. I have 3 of these that I rotate throughout the week. Plus, they have a ton of colors. https://amzn.to/3OjHmm4
  4. Fit & Fresh Wichita Lunch Bag – Another great bag with a different style. I might need this one, too, to change it up here and there – and for when I forget my other one at work. https://amzn.to/3q1ygRz

L – Life gets busy sometimes, and full disclosure – I am struggling to focus lately. Maybe it’s because I am not on a regular schedule right now or maybe it’s because I have SO many things I want to do before I head back to work (and I’m not sure how to get it all in). With that being said, I am finding it more valuable than ever to write alllll the things down.

I used to keep a monthly calendar on my refrigerator, but even that got a little overwhelming so I decided to take things one week at a time. Chunking my schedule, appointments, and necessary to-dos into smaller pieces allows me to focus more on what is right in front of me.

Earlier in the year, I picked up a weekly desk calendar (the one pictured) from Marshalls or Homegoods and it has been a lifesaver. Every Sunday, I fill it out for the week and up on the fridge it goes. I even use the extra space to fill out our menu – it keeps the “What’s for dinner?” question away.

C – Let’s finish out our weekly TLC with a focus on gratitude. Gratitude has a huge positive effect on us in many ways, from strengthening relationships to experiencing better sleep and more energy to helping us shift our day-to-day thoughts.

This week, try to incorporate a simple gratitude practice with the “Three Good Things” rule. (You can jot things down in a journal or even use the notes app on your phone.)

You can do this by:
1. Identifying three things that have gone well for you throughout the and identify the cause.
2. Thinking of three things that make/made you smile each day.

When we focus on the good, the good gets even better.

Sending you good vibes for a fabulous week!
