Wow, 2020. I’m not quite sure what to say about you. You were kind of like the Friends episode with Ross’s leather pants. It started out looking great, but became ONE BIG MESS.
Some say years don’t really count and it’s only a way to track time. Maybe that’s true. Maybe it’s better to simply focus on moments in life and take each one as it comes. It’s not about turning the page. It’s about building onto the life you already have. I am grateful for each new moment the past 366 days gave me (don’t forget it was a leap year, too), the good and the not-so-good.
Now, I will readily admit that I am not one for resolutions because, let’s face it, even our best intentions get lost in the shuffle. So a few years ago I started focusing on my “one word” for each new year. Last December 31st I decided to go big or go home with two: serenity and light. Did I succeed in embracing either of those during a most unusual year? Probably not, which is okay. Maybe 2020 had its own plans and instead taught me acceptance and flexibility.
As we look forward, we keep in mind that every moment of every day is an opportunity for growth. So, with that being said my one goal for 2021 is to learn how to fold a fitted sheet.
Wishing you all safe, happy, and healthy new moments in 2021.
