Teaching Patience

There is a quote about patience by Joyce Meyer that I have always loved: “Patience is not the ability to wait but the ability to keep a good attitude while waiting.”

Having patience is hard. We know that much even as adults, which is why it is such an important social-emotional learning skill for us to teach our children and students. Thankfully, picture books ALWAYS seem to do the trick.

I have found the most adorable book for teaching children about patience, titled The Very Impatient Caterpillar. This is a truly witty, very funny book about how hard, yet necessary, it is to have patience. Children will be able to see and identify with the struggle we all sometimes have when showing patience. They will laugh out loud (so will you) at the funny dialogue and enjoy the colorful illustrations.

I have also created some fabulous activities, focused on patience, that go with this book. They are available in my Teachers Pay Teachers shop.
