We all know habits are hard to break. As a matter of fact, it is scientific proof (somewhere) that it takes 21 days to break an existing habit. But, what if we looked at things a different way? What if we put a positive spin on habits? I bet those 21 days would be a lot more fun!
Every September, my students and I discuss what it takes to make us successful for the year. We write a set of “guidelines” for how we should act, and we frame them as positives. We don’t necessarily call them rules, because let’s face it, rules are often broken and seen negatively. On the other hand, by seeing our ideas in a positive light, we are more likely to view them as goals and something to strive toward…annnnnddd the same goes for habits.
While we are on the subject of habits, habit trackers are a list-maker’s organization dream. If you’re a visual person, they are for you. If you like to SEE your progress, they are for you. If you like to check things off or write things down – you guessed it – they are for you.
So what exactly is a habit tracker? Well, its quite simple. It’s a tool to track your habits – not your bad ones, but your good ones. We could also call them goal-getters because essentially we are setting goals and working toward meeting them.
Sometimes, though, when we sit down to try and use a habit tracker we can get a little overwhelmed. Where do we start? What habits/goals do we track? How do we keep up with it? I’m here to answer ALL those questions, and more!
Where do you start?
Find a habit tracker that works for you. If you’re anything like me, I like to keep things simple because otherwise it will become a chore and we don’t want that. Lucky for you, I have created a VERY simple, easy-to-use tracker printable for you (see below) in two versions. Scroll to the bottom to download.

What habits/goals do you track?
This part is entirely up to you! You can start small, choosing a few habits at a time, because there is no right or wrong to this. Some habits can be daily and others can be a set number of times each week. You can also – ready for this – CHANGE your habits as you go along because this is all about helping YOU reach your goals. I will, however, set you up with a list of possible habits to choose from, just to get your creativity going. Scroll to the bottom to download a printable list.

How do you keep up with it?
Place it someplace you will see it every day. Fill it out throughout the day, at night, OR in the morning the following day. Again, it is all about what works best for YOU!
As I told you before, I’m here to make your life easier. Below are two different habit tracker printables AND a list of suggested habits to track. Get motivated, see your progress, relish your hard work, and have fun with this!
