Summer Book 1: Ghosted

Okay. I lie. I actually started reading Ghosted by Rosie Walsh BEFORE Memorial Day which is always the the unofficial start of summer to me, but I finished it after. So, it counts. Right?!

Right. So here’s my take on the book (without giving anything away):

It was hard to get into at first. (I always hate saying that about a book I end up loving, but I try to be honest.) Now, I am one to sit down and read an entire book in a night at times, and this one just didn’t start that way for me. But, I was determined to get through it. That’s when the good stuff started. And that’s when I found myself saying “just ten more minutes” or “just one more chapter.”

The book jumps back and forth between present moment and what happened prior to it. The chapters also switch between the different characters to get their perspective on the events that are taking place. Basically, I found that I really had to pay attention to what I was reading.

Now…what I REALLY loved about this book was that I thought I knew. I thought I had the whole story figured out at one point. But, I didn’t. And I had to go back and reread certain parts. When the puzzle pieces finally started coming together, I actually let out with a vocalized “Oh no way!” I mean, I even started telling my fiancé about the book, talking as if these were people we really knew – and he enjoyed it! Imagine that if you will…

So, do I recommend Ghosted? Absolutely. And to quote from the book:

” ‘More will be revealed,’ my father always liked to say about people.”

…And that is oh so true!
