This & That

In a world where you can be anything…

Be Kind.

For the past I don’t know how many years, my classroom focus and theme has been kindness. We practice kindness, we show kindness, we live and breathe kindness. I teach and model kindness in so many different ways. Kindness is just simply “our thing.”

Now, anyone who knows me knows I love teaching. I also love learning. Some days I’m the teacher and some days I’m the student. Today I was the student by choice.

You see, kids have an innocent way to them. They just seem to get life in ways that adults have forgotten. I mean, I get it. We have A LOT to deal with on any given day and life can get tough…but, that is EXACTLY when we need to tap into our inner child. Right now this is EXACTLY what we all need.

So, what does this have to do with being kind? Well, back in February my students wrote a book about kindness. Some wrote poems, some wrote about a quote, others wrote about what kindness meant to them. In seeking some inspiration, I went straight to their writing because I knew today I needed to simply be the student. I wanted to share some of their thoughts with you…

Kindness is a way to help people.

Kind people play with others and include everyone.

The quote about being a rainbow in someone’s cloud inspires me to listen and be kind to others.

Be the kid who makes people happy.

Kind is the new cool.

Kindness is encouraging others.

Kindness is something that can change your day.

Kindness is the best thing in the world.

Lesson learned. Thank you, kiddos, for being so wise beyond your years.
