Gratitude Part 2: Weekly Gratitude Journal

In the first part of my gratitude series, we took a look at how powerful gratitude can be. It has such a positive effect on our health, our well-being, and our relationships with others. Today, I want to give you a simple resource to help foster this “attitude of gratitude” and bring it into your daily life.

We discussed many different ways to enhance our sense of gratitude, but we are going to focus on these two today:

Make note of the big and little joys of daily life.  You can do this at the end of the day by writing in a journal.  You can even do this throughout the day in the “notes” on your phone.  This practice should be what works best for YOU, but the goal is to notice all the goodness you have and be grateful.

Practice the “Three Good Things” rule. Identify three things that have gone well for you and identify the cause.  Write these down so that you can refer back to them when you need a gentle reminder. Or think of three things that make/made you smile each day – this goes with the above point.

I know for me, I sometimes keep track of my three things on my “notes” in my phone, but then I transfer it to a journal or another sheet of paper. The process of actually writing brings it fully into focus for me. It also brings me to joy to go back and read what I have written throughout because I get to relive those happy moments once again.

So, here is my gift to you…print it out, pop it in a binder, put it on your refrigerator – use it however you would like! A downloadable version is below.

Stay tuned for Part 3 of my Gratitude Series – I have a challenge for you!
