Parents and Educators

Last summer I started on my post-graduate journey to get my Social-Emotional Learning certification, and this by far has been some of the best work I have done!

Now more than ever we need to reach the whole child, educating the mind the and heart at the same time.

Social-emotional learning is an integral, yet extremely important, part of a child’s education.  Students are taught and equipped with strategies that enable them to better manage their emotions and stressful situations.  With this, they are able to power through and persevere when completing difficult tasks, and they feel comfortable setting personal goals for which they must strive to achieve.

Social-emotional learning also helps create an environment of kindness and empathy within the classroom and encourages this behavior to continue through peer interactions.  Teachers who feel strongly about, and believe in, SEL understand the importance of a nurturing environment, as well as using compassion when responding to students.  They also understand the importance of how their own personal social-emotional well-being can carry over into their teaching.

I hope to encourage and inspire you with some information, activities, and strategies that you can use with your students and children in the classroom, at home, and beyond.
